Linux是非常好的服务器操作系统，继承了不少UNIX的好东西，系统资源利用率了，安全性了什么的都非常优秀。
以后网络发展的趋势就是大容量数据的集中存储和分布式运算，分布式运算就是我们利用客户端程序进行数据的处理，集中存储就是利用大的服务器系统将数据集中存放在一起（我们叫他磁盘阵列），这个主要由数据库来完成。
目前这样的服务器系统大多数用的是WINDOWS2003server，可惜微软技术太差，低端服务器平台2003server能行，数据量一大了，2003server就跟本顶不起来了，自身能力就不行。 所以在高端的服务器市场中根本看不到微软家的东西。
高端用什么，那就是小型机，服务器集群，矩阵，是这些东西，小型机上的系统那便是UNIX，Windows跟本装不上。 数据库一般用的是ORACLE和DB2，SQLserver跟这些数据库系统比差公里远了。
而小型机造价太高，一台上好几十万上百万，一套UNIX就是十几万甚至几十万，买不起啊！！又想追求性能，咋办，用LINUX。 linux可以装在X86平台上，普通的X86服务器都可能装，性能还不错。 因为Linux实质上就是把内核换掉的UNIX。
好多人学LINUX有个误区，就是玩桌面系统，我们作服务器从来不装桌面环境，命令行才真正能玩出东西来了。 很多东西在这儿没法说，总之，LINUX是个趋势，本来这个东西早该普及的，就像印度，小学学校就开始教了，你看印度的IT业，尤其是软件开发业。 你再看看我们，教育部那办老家伙们怎么就意识不到这个的重要性，还整天教人XP，word，就只能在低端混了！
